- Q: How to replace the starter motor on 2010 Cadillac DTS?A: Start by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable during Starter motor replacement. Next, remove the Intake Manifold. Start by removing the "bat" terminal nut and the "s" terminal nut from the Starter before removing the Starter solenoid cable and the Starter motor bolts to take out the Starter motor. When installing the Starter motor position it correctly while making sure the large terminal locator tab enters the Starter solenoid retention slot prior to applying 25 nm (18 lb ft) torque to the Starter motor bolts. Reconnect the Starter solenoid cable before installing the "s" terminal nut with a torque setting of 4 nm (35 lb in) and then installing the "bat" terminal nut at 10 nm (89 lb in). Install the Intake Manifold after reconnecting the negative Battery Cable.
