2010 Cadillac DTS Battery Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the positive battery cable on 2010 Cadillac DTS?
A: You can begin positive battery cable replacement after removing the surge tank followed by negative cable disconnection and removing both front and rear floor carpeting. Start the procedure by removing NUT which holds the positive battery cable then disconnect cable from the battery. First remove the floor pan stud positive battery cable retainer then unfasten both the junction block stud terminal and positive battery cable nut. The body of work begins with removing the positive battery cable retainer from the rocker panel then moving on to take off the retainers (2, 3, and 4) from the body harness channel and the clips (2, 3, 4, and 5) from the body harness retainers along with the dash mat. Start by positioning the dash mat flap properly then unfasten the locking tabs securing the junction block cover to proceed with its removal. First detach the starter solenoid cable nut from its mount at the bussed electrical center (BEC) while also extracting the starter solenoid cable from the BEC stud then release the positive battery cable from the BEC stud. Carefully extract the positive battery cable grommet from the dash front opening and pull the cable through front of the dash until it exits from the vehicle. Start by placing the new positive battery cable and feed its front end through the dash opening before inserting the positive battery cable grommet at the dash front. Begin by placing positive battery clips in the side engine compartment then proceed with connecting the positive battery cable as well as the starter solenoid cable to the BEC stud. Fasten the starter solenoid cable with nut and secure a torque value of 15 Nm (11 lb ft) before installing the junction block cover. Install the positive battery cable clip to the dash mat before securing the clips (2 and 3 and 4) to the body harness retainers while also attaching retainers (2 and 3 and 4) to the body harness channel. Connect the positive battery cable retainer to the rocker panel while installing terminal to the junction block stud then thread nut to the junction block stud before tightening it to 15 Nm (11 lb ft). Install the positive battery cable retainer against the floor pan stud so that you can place the positive battery cable correctly to the battery and tighten the positive battery cable nut to 15 Nm (11 lb ft). Connect the negative battery terminal while reinstalling the carpeting along with attaching the surge tank.
