    A: Begin installation of a new Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Sensor (SIS) by disabling the SIR system first. Start by moving the seat into the most forward position and extracting the trim panel from center pillar. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the SIS harness connector followed by disconnecting the SIS harness connector from the sensor. SIS mounting fasteners should be removed from the center pillar before extracting the SIS from its position. Clean the mounting surface before installing the new SIS sensor into the center pillar. Fasten the SIS mounting fasteners to 9 Nm (80 lb in) torque. Fasten the SIS harness connector to the SIS system before installing the CPA connector to its harness location. The installation process includes placing the new center pillar trim and returning the seat to its factory configuration and activating the SIR function.
