How to service and repair a coil springs and shock absorber on 2010 Cadillac STS?

Service and repair operations on the shock absorber should start by elevating and stabilizing the vehicle. First remove the tire along with wheel before extracting the shock module from the vehicle. Put the shock module inside the spring compressor while marking both the upper Control Arm assembly and insulator for correct installation when the shock absorber allows smooth movement with a compressed spring. Twist the spring compressor forcing screw until the coil spring becomes compressed while taking out first the magnaride sensor nut and the shock absorber upper retaining nut before extracting the shock absorber from the shock module. Tighten the compressor forcing screw until the upper mounting plate and coil spring loosen away from their positions. After that, remove both the upper Control Arm bracket assembly along with its insulator. The upper Control Arm bracket alignment pins should face horizontally towards the shock absorber lower mounting holes before installation. Place the coil spring combined with insulator and upper Control Arm bracket assembly and shock absorber into the spring compressor while keeping all marks aligned before squeezing the coil spring further. Fasten the shock absorber retaining nut to 25 nm torque before tightening the magnaride sensor nut to 20 nm torque. After removal of the shock module from the spring compressor replace it into the vehicle body. The wheel and tire must be installed before you lower the vehicle to its normal position.
