2010 Chevrolet Aveo Wheel Cylinder Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to overhaul the rear wheel cylinder on 2010 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: Start overhauling the brake cylinder from its rear position by separating the Wheel Cylinder from the backing plate. Disassemble the Wheel Cylinder by removing the boots, pistons, seals and taking out the spring assembly, bleeder cap, and bleeder valve. Examine both Wheel Cylinder bore and pistons for damage such as scores, imperfections, rust, and wear and replace the assembly if cleaning the bore with a crocus cloth fails. Light surface rust needs brushing out from the Wheel Cylinder bore with a crocus cloth. Use clean denatured alcohol or brake fluid to wipe all parts dry them using compressed air without lubricant. Apply clean brake fluid to new seals pistons and Wheel Cylinder bore and add thin brake cylinder fluid layer to all parts except dust caps for assembly. Set the bleeder valve and cap on the Wheel Cylinder together with the spring system before placing in the Piston parts and seals. Test the pistons to see if they can move easily before placing the Wheel Cylinder unit into its position.
