2010 Chevrolet Camaro Power Steering Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the power steering pump on 2010 Chevrolet Camaro?
A: The first step to replace the Power Steering Pump starts with removing the front intake manifold cover. Place protective coverings over the air conditioning compressor as a barrier to power steering fluid drops while installing drain pans beneath the vehicle. It is dangerous to begin the car engine when any power steering gear inlet or outlet hoses remain disconnected so keep all ports sealed with plugs or caps. First unplug the power steering fluid reservoir outlet hose while you disconnect and cap the power steering gear inlet hose. When reusing the original Power Steering Pump you should plug the outlet port on the pump. First remove the pulley from the Power Steering Pump followed by the three bracket bolts before pulling out both components together as an assembly. Ongoing procedures demand the removal of the bolt as well as pump auxiliary bracket when present. A fresh Power Steering Pump must be fitted onto its bracket when installed. Secure the pump auxiliary bracket by tightening its bolt to 20 nm (15 lb ft) tension. Position the Power Steering Pump together with its bracket assembly into the vehicle after plugging the outlet port. Secure the Power Steering Pump bracket using three bolts which should be tightened to 58 nm (43 lb ft). The power steering reservoir needs its outlet hose reinstalled before fluid filling. Use your thumb to stop the fluid flow through power steering gear inlet hose after observing fluid movement while inspecting the o-ring for normal condition. Establish a fast connection of the power steering gear inlet hose directly after removing the plug from the Power Steering Pump outlet port. Clean all surplus solution before attaching the Power Steering Pump pulley. First remove the air conditioning compressor cover then proceed to fill the power steering before bleeding its system followed by the removal of drain pans before you install the front intake manifold cover.
