2010 Chevrolet Cobalt Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the oil pan on 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt?
A: Start your Oil Pan replacement by securing the engine support fixture first. First remove the Engine Mount before lifting the engine till the Oil Pan can be removed. Start by lifting the vehicle and supporting it before installing a drain pan under the Oil Pan drain plug to drain all engine oil. Start by removing the engine Drive Belt until you can access the lower ac compressor bolt and the upper bolts. Remove both the 4 bolts from the transaxle to the Oil Pan and the Oil Pan bolts before uninstalling the Oil Pan and all existing Oil Pan sealant. Start by cleaning off any oil or debris from both the lower crankcase and Oil Pan and apply a 3.5 mm bead of sealant where the Oil Pan meets the lower crankcase. Do not overapply the sealant to these areas. Follow the fastener caution during installation of the Oil Pan together with its bolts. Follow these steps for installing the transaxle Oil Pan bolts: begin by tightening each bolt to 75 nm (55 lb ft) then move to the Oil Pan bolt sequence where each gets tightened to 25 nm (18 lb ft). After installing the lower ac compressor bolt tighten both upper bolts to 25 nm (18 lb ft) then install the engine Drive Belt. Lower the engine before installing the Engine Mount and then remove the engine support fixture, lower the vehicle while filling the engine with oil at the specified level.
