How to replace a two-piece drive shaft on 2010 Chevrolet Colorado?

There are two steps when you need to change the two-piece propeller shaft: shift the transmission into neutral and disable the park brake if it exists. Raise and support the vehicle. A proper alignment of all u-joints with the transmission and center bearing support and rear drive axle pinion flange must be maintained by rotating the propeller shafts until external clips reach alignment. It is necessary to mark the contact points between the rear propeller shaft and transmission, pinion drive flange and center bearing support. Start by removing the retaining bolts along with the clamps from the pinion drive flange on the rear propeller shaft and from the center bearing. To protect the rear u-joint bearing caps from detachment from the joint users should wrap them with tape or rubber bands before removing the rear propeller shaft from the center bearing. First disconnect the bolts which support the center bearing before extracting it from the crossmember. After extracting the center bearing proceed to remove the propeller shaft from the transmission. When installing the propeller shaft position its reference marks correctly against the transmission before putting it into place. Attach the center bearing to the crossmember before installing its mounting bolts and torquing them to 80 nm (59 lb ft). Extend the propeller shaft to position its marks within the pinion yoke, take away tape or rubber band, place the u-joint inside the yoke before fastening clamps with retaining bolts at 30 nm (22 lb ft). After checking the alignment marks you should lower the vehicle.
