2010 Chevrolet HHR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the harmonic balancer on 2010 Chevrolet HHR?
A: The first step for replacing the crankshaft balancer requires belt removal. Use Harmonic Balancer holder (J 38122-A) to stop crankshaft rotation during bolt removal of the crankshaft balancer bolt before discarding it. Proceed to extract the crankshaft balancer from its place. Start by installing the new crankshaft balancer before putting a new crankshaft balancer bolt correctly into position. Tighten the bolt by using the Harmonic Balancer holder (J 38122-A) to secure the balancer during the process. The angle meter (J 45059) should be used to tighten the crankshaft balancer bolt to 100 nm (74 lb ft) torque followed by an additional 125 degrees of angle. Finally, reinstall the Drive Belt.
