2010 Chevrolet HHR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and valve stem oil seal on 2010 Chevrolet HHR?
A: First, take out the Camshaft, remove the spark plugs, and then take off the Camshaft roller followers. After that, place the front piece of the valve spring compressor (J 43649) into the second Camshaft cover bolt hole and fasten the rest of the valve spring compressor (J 43649) onto the Cylinder Head. Place the Air Hose adapter in the Spark Plug hole and connect an Air Hose, and afterwards, pressurize the cylinder to 690 kpa (100 psi). Press the valve spring using the valve spring compressor (J 43649) and, with the spring compressed, take away the valve spring keepers, valve spring retainer, and the valve spring itself. Take out the valve seal with the valve guide seal remover (J 36017), and use the same tool to fit a new valve seal onto the valve guide. Place the valve spring and the valve spring retainer back, compress the valve spring one more time with the valve spring compressor (J 43649), and mount the valve spring keepers. Take off the Air Hose from the adapter, remove the Air Hose adapter from the Spark Plug hole, and depress the valve spring compressor (J 43649) out of the Cylinder Head. Lastly, put the Camshaft roller followers and spark plugs back, and then install the Camshaft.
