2010 Chevrolet Impala Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the starter motor for RPOs LZE/LZ4/LZ8 on 2010 Chevrolet Impala?
A: Starting the replacement process of rpos lze/lz4/lz8 Starter motor requires you to disconnect the negative Battery Cable at first. The first step requires removal of the front lower air deflector panel and torque converter cover. Release the screws attaching the Starter solenoid bat terminal nut and proceed to undock the positive Battery Cable terminal as well as engine harness terminal on the Starter hardware. Unplug the electrical connector of the Starter while using a socket wrench to unscrew Starter bolts to extract the motor. During installation fit the Starter motor onto the engine while tightening the bolts to 43 nm (32 lb ft). The startermotor electrical connector connection follows the installation of both the engine harness terminal and positive Battery Cable terminal on the Starter motor. Ensure that the anti-rotation feature of the positive Battery Cable terminal points in the correct direction. Before tightening apply a 10 nm torque (89 lb in) to the bat terminal nut of the Starter solenoid. Complete the process by reinstalling torque converter covers and the front lower air deflector panel followed by reconnecting the negative Battery Cable.
