2010 Chevrolet Impala Thermostat Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the engine coolant thermostat (LZE, LZ4, LGD) on 2010 Chevrolet Impala?
A: You need to drain the cooling system before replacing the engine coolant Thermostat found on lze, lz4, and lgd vehicles. Take off the air cleaner outlet duct next. Ace the radiator outlet hose clamp at the Thermostat Housing after positioning it properly before pulling the hose free from the housing (3.5L shown with 3.9L having a similar setup). Start by removing the Thermostat Housing bolt/stud and the housing itself and then remove the original Thermostat. Make sure to clean your gasket surfaces before adding your new Thermostat across them. After gasket installation attach the Thermostat Housing to the engine block with a new gasket followed by the installation of the Thermostat Housing bolt/stud then tighten it to 10 nm (89 lb in). The radiator outlet hose receives installation on the Thermostat Housing (3.5L shown, 3.9L similar) with placement of the radiator outlet hose clamp at the Thermostat Housing location. After installing the air cleaner outlet duct, check the cooling system for any leaks after refilling it.
