2010 Chevrolet Impala Water Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the water pump on LZE, LZ4, or LZG engines on 2010 Chevrolet Impala?
A: Before working on the Water Pump for lze, lz4, or lzg engines drain the entire cooling system. First loosen all Water Pump Pulley bolts and then take off the Drive Belt based on the recommended method for either 3.5l or 3.9l engines. Start with removing the Water Pump Pulley bolts and pulley before moving on to take out the Water Pump bolts and finally extracting the Water Pump and its gasket. Discard any debris from both sides of the Water Pump. Place the new Water Pump gasket and pump unit onto the engine front cover surface by tightening the Water Pump bolts to 15 nm (11 lb ft). Fix the Water Pump Pulley onto its bolts before putting on the Drive Belt and tightening both sets of Water Pump Pulley bolts to 25 nm (18 lb ft). Put coolant inside the system while looking for any water loss.
