How to replace the upper rear side access door latch assembly on 2010 GMC Canyon?

Begin the upper rear side access door latch installation by opening and removing the rear side access door trim panel from the door. The first step is to detach the upper latch rod from its position by removing the retaining clip before uninstalling bolts (1, 2) which secure the upper latch to the rear side access door. The upper latch should first be started on the rear side access door before lower bolts are loosely installed for basic latch security. Install the upper latch rod by connecting it with retaining clips when both lower bolts reach their final tightness stage and the latch bracket stands flush with the door panel. After closing the rear side access door the movement of the upper latch will automatically align while you continue tightening the lower bolts. After opening the rear side access door once more install the upper rear side access door upper latch bolt by adjusting the rods for simultaneous latch operation and secure with a torque of 9 Nm (80 lb in). Return the rear side access door trim panel and close the door.
