  • Q: How to replace the intake manifold on 2010 GMC Canyon?
    A: To install the new Intake Manifold, remove Throttle Body, battery box, and oil level indicator/tube. Extract the brake booster hose and the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor and engine wiring harness retainer from the Intake Manifold. Also remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) dirty air tube which is found on the camshaft cover and the generator as well. Disconnect the engine wiring harness retainer from the Intake Manifold and remove the upper 2 bolts attaching the engine wiring harness bracket to Intake Manifold. Lift vehicle up to get access other component through the wheelhouse and remove the left front wheel and left front liner of the wheelhouse. Remove the traffective used for removing wiring harness retainers for Battery Cable, engine (4,6) and MAP Sensor after that take off the remaining engine wiring bracket lower bolt and the bracket. Lower the vehicle by removing the bolts of the Intake Manifold, and remove Intake Manifold from the cylinder head by discarding the old seal and mask off the open ports to prevent foreign objects from entering the engine. For installation, clean the sealing surface and install a new seal into the side of the Intake Manifold groove and place the Intake Manifold towards the cylinder head. Lift and raise the vehicle once more to access the Intake Manifold bolts, engine wiring harness bracket bolts, and the wiring harnesses. Torque the Intake Manifold bolts from the inside towards the outside until they reach 10 nm (89 lb in) and secure the engine wiring harness bracket onto the engine with the bolts at 10 nm(89 lb in). Reconnect the engine wiring harness retainers for the Battery Cable, engine (4, 6) and MAP Sensor, re-install the left front wheelhouse liner and left front wheel then reduced the vehicle. Mount the engine wiring harness retainer to the Intake Manifold , install the generator, connect the pcv dirty air tube to the camshaft cover, and then reconnect the engine wiring harness retainer to the Intake Manifold and the electrical connector to the MAP Sensor. Finally, reconnect the brake booster hose, install oil level indicator and tube, battery box, and Throttle Body.
