Buick LaCrosse Thermostat Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the thermostat (LY7) on Buick LaCrosse?
    A:
You should start by draining part of the cooling system before beginning Thermostat (LY7) replacement. You must never separate the components within the upper and lower Intake Manifold system. The installation process requires upper Intake Manifold removal alongside lower Intake Manifold extraction. Detach the surge tank hose from the Thermostat position while removing the coolant pipe/Thermostat housing bolt followed by the coolant pipe bolt . The coolant inlet pipe requires removal from the Thermostat housing before discarding the coolant pipe o-ring seal . The first step is to remove all bolts from the Thermostat before pulling out the Thermostat while disposing of the Thermostat seal. Install the Thermostat while using a new Thermostat seal then tighten the Thermostat bolts to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). First position the coolant pipe together with its new seal on the fasteners (1 and 3). Next connect the surge tank hose correctly to the Thermostat. Install both the upper and lower intake manifolds before completing the cooling system.
