How to Replace Automatic Transmission Shift Levers on Buick LeSabre?

The first step for shift lever replacement requires Battery Cable disconnection and sir system deactivation. First remove the steering column shrouds and the Steering Wheel before taking out the left closeout/insulator panel if installed with traction control. The traction control harness should get its electrical connector disconnected while you gently pull out the harness from the column keeping track of the original route for later assembly. To remove the shift lever to shift control you must first eliminate its torx(R) head fastener then gently pull upward on the shift lever. Push and lower the new shift lever to properly slot it into the shift control before placing the torx(R) head fastener. Route the traction control harness through the column by following the marking routes that were noted earlier. Steering column shrouds and Steering Wheel installation should be followed by fitting the left closeout/insulator panel when traction control exists on the vehicle. Finally, enable the sir system.
