Buick Park Avenue Pushrod Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Pushrod on Buick Park Avenue?
A: Service and repair of the push rod begins with left valve Rocker Arm cover removal followed by removing the right valve Rocker Arm cover. Start by removing the pedestal retaining bolts then disconnect the pedestal from its location and clean both assemblies and store the components in order for rebuilding. After removing the Rocker Arm assembly with pushrods you can clean the valve rocker arms pushrods pedestal bolts using a suitable solution for wear inspection. You must eliminate thread adhesive from all bolts just before their installation stage. To perform this procedure the torque angle meter (J36660-A) becomes the necessary tool. The installation starts with placing pushrods and valve rocker arms on their respective positions before securing the pedestal. The threads of valve Rocker Arm bolt require gm p/n 12345493 threadlocker compound with equivalent properties before installing the valve Rocker Arm pedestal retaining bolts. Secure the valve Rocker Arm bolts at 15 nm torque setting followed by an additional 90 degrees rotation using the torque angle meter (J36660-A). After installing the left and right valve Rocker Arm covers you should check for any abnormal valve train noises.
