Standards to service and repair the front crankshaft seal require removing the crankshaft balancer with its bolt while maintaining carefulness about damaging seal bore or contact surfaces. A screwdriver will help in extracting the front crankshaft oil seal. The Seal Installer (J35354) needs to be used to install the oil seal by engaging the crankshaft balancer bolt with the tool. The crankshaft front oil seal must be seated in the engine front cover before removing the Seal Installer (J35354) while tightening the bolt. After application of lubricant GM P/N 10522497 or equivalent to the inside of the crankshaft balancer seal surface you should put the crankshaft balancer and its bolt in place.
