    Q:
How to replace the rear crankshaft seal on Buick Regal? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the Crankshaft rear oil seal one should, first, remove the engine fly wheel and be careful not to damage the Crankshaft outside diameter surface or chamfer with a tool. Next, pry out the Crankshaft rear oil seal while using a flat-bladed tool that is inserted through the dust lip and pushing the handle toward the end of the Crankshaft, repetitively if need be. Visual inspect inside diameter of the bore and adjust or replace the Crankshaft rear oil seal as required and inspect the Crankshaft for nicks or burrs on the face that touches the seal and make necessary Crankshaft repair or replacement. For installation anoint the new crank shaft rear oil seal with engine oil both on and off the inner diameter and slide over the mandrel until it bottoms against the collar of the j 38196 rear Crankshaft Seal installer (J 38196). Hand tighten the j 38196 onto the Crankshaft, or tighten screws to 5 nm (54 inch lbs.), then rotate the t-handle on the j 38196 until the collar seats against the case properly to ensure correct seating. Loosen the t-handle as far as it goes to slide the collar for the next new seal, then remove the attaching screws. Finally, reinstall the engine Flywheel, make necessary checks in the crankcase and examining for leaks.

    Q:
How to replace the rear crankshaft seal on Chevrolet Impala? Posted by Customer
    A:
The replacement process for the Crankshaft rear oil seal requires transaxle removal followed by engine Flywheel removal while maintaining the integrity of Crankshaft sealing surfaces. Nicks to the Crankshaft sealing surface must be avoided throughout the procedure. Use a flat-bladed tool or comparable instrument to slide through the dust lip of the seal at an angle before carefully prying it out by pushing the tool handle towards the Crankshaft end. Repeat this step for the entire seal perimeter. Apply engine oil to the entire new Crankshaft rear oil seal surface before using the Crankshaft rear oil seal installer (J 34686) to position the replacement. After installation of the engine Flywheel and transaxle the procedure ends.
