How to Service and Repair the Crankshaft Seal on 2000 Chevrolet Impala?

To service and repair the crankshaft main bearing seal, have the first to take out the cross axle and the engine fly wheel and ensure there is no nicking of the crankshaft sealing surface in the process. Then, lift the crankshaft rear oil seal through the dust lip with a flat-bladed tool or other tool intended for this purpose moving the handle toward the end of the crankshaft until the seal is removed, and repeating as needed around the seal. For installation, coat the new crankshaft rear oil seal with engine oil using the crankshaft rear oil seal installer (J 34686) before installation. Finally, install back the engine Flywheel and transaxle.
