A screwdriver helps to extract the front crankshaft oil seal from its position. Use the Seal Installer (J 35354) to insert the oil seal while employing the crankshaft balancer bolt to position the seal correctly in the engine front cover through stepwise bolt tightening. The installer tool must be removed before applying GM P/N 10522497 lubricating material to the crankshaft balancer seal surface which should then be installed along with the bolt.
