The crankshaft front oil seal replacement requires you to remove the crankshaft balancer along with its bolt. Avoid damaging the seal bore or contact surfaces of the crankshaft front oil seal by using a screwdriver to remove it. Proper installation requires the usage of Seal Installer (J 35354) to correctly place the new oil seal followed by crankshaft balancer bolt application with the tool until the seal rests inside the engine front cover. When using Seal Installer (J 35354), coat the inside seal surface of the crankshaft balancer with lubricant GM P/N 10522497 or equivalent, before installing the bolt and crankshaft balancer in their proper places.
