In order to replace the front wheel drive shaft outer joint and seal, you may use the j42572 drive shaft seal clamp pliers. Start by wrapping a shop towel around the
Axle Shaft and put the wheel drive shaft horizontally in a bench vise. Remove the large seal retaining clamp from the outer joint seal with the side cutter and throw it away then the small seal retaining clamp as well. Consequently, remove the seal from the joint outer race from its big diameter end and clean the grease off the joint inner race, cage, and balls. Remove the outer joint from the Axle Shaft by picking up and holding the joint housing, introducing a wood block between the seal and joint, and striking the block with a hammer to compress the Axle Shaft retaining clip. Now free the parts and cleaned with the solvent and air dried. When assembling, position the cage having its larger radius corners in the upward, place the inner race at the place of the cage, and align the ball tracks. Mount the inner race and cage in the outer race, fitting higher the larger radius corners. Follow the process of installation of balls, putting them into the outer race and inner race, and pump approximately 60 percent of the grease from the service kit into the outer joint. After installing the new small seal retaining clamp seal on to the Axle Shaft then compress the Axle Shaft retaining ring and make sure the outer joint is seated fully. Lastly, close both the small and large seal retaining, clamps by using the j 42572, and tighten it using 136 nm (100ft. Lbs.), and check the width of the gap to ensure it is between 2 and 3mm (0.079 and 0.118inch). Check the outer joint for smooth running by rotating the wheel drive shaft a few times.
