You must disable sir before removing the knee bolster trim panel to replace
Steering Column trim covers and trim. Start by removing both the
Steering Wheel and tilt lever close out plate. Start by removing the screws from the lower Steering Column trim and lower the tilt cover until you can release its locking tabs by sliding it backward. First step involves removing upper trim cover screws along with
Ignition Lock Cylinder before extracting the upper trim cover out of the Steering Column. Install the upper trim cover on the Steering Column followed by lock cylinder installation. Secure the Steering Column's upper trim cover screws using a torque of 1.5 nm (13 inch lbs.). Put the tab slots of the lower trim cover into position with the locking tabs of the upper trim cover then lift the lower trim up to lock the tabs together. Fix lower trim cover screws into position at 3.5 nm (31 inch lbs.) torque. Reinstall the tilt lever close out plate as well as the Steering Wheel and knee bolster trim panel before activating the sir system.
