  Q: How to replace the ignition lock cylinder on Buick Rendezvous?

  A: The ignition system replacement process begins with disconnecting the negative Battery Cable then disabling the sir system functions. First remove the Steering Wheel along with its retaining screw from the lower Steering Column trim covers. Pull down the trim cover until locking tabs disengage then pull it backward to remove the lower Steering Column trim covers. Access the lock cylinder access hole becomes possible by detaching the retaining screws from the upper Steering Column trim cover and lifting that cover. The snap-on a173a bent-tip awl should be inserted into the access hole of the Ignition Lock Cylinder while you turn the cylinder to the start position. The Ignition Lock Cylinder retainer will drop thanks to the bent-tip tool's application while moving the Ignition Lock Cylinder into run mode before removing it from the lock cylinder case. To install the Ignition Lock Cylinder insert it through the upper Steering Column trim cover making sure the lock cylinder retaining tab matches the slots in the lock housing and push the lock cylinder fully inside. Use 3.5 n.m (31 lb in) to tighten the retaining screws which attach to the upper steering trim cover. Put the tab slots on the lower trim cover into the locking tabs on the upper trim cover then raise the lower trim cover while sliding it until the tabs catch the slots. Screw in the lower trim cover screws to the Steering Column while tightening them to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in) before you place in the Steering Wheel. You must activate the sir system and connect the negative Battery Cable as your last step.
