    Q:
How to service and repair the Ignition Lock Cylinder on Buick Rendezvous? Posted by Customer
    A:
Must start Ignition Lock Cylinder service and repair with the following tools: the lock cylinder staking and holding fixture serves as j41340. Lock cylinder staking and holding fixture (J41340). Every key possesses double functions and can switch directions while master keys and valet keys include transponder chips that interface with vehicle security systems. Vehicle keys feature ten cutting positions spread over five depth levels while the master key includes a transponder component which activates all lock systems. Key cuts begin with retrieving the key code from either the key tag's 5-character identification or from the original Ignition Lock Cylinder. The lock cylinder requires tumbler slot positioning downwards when rotated while you keep it near a flat surface to extract the side bar. First note down tumbler positions before you put the tumblers into their coded sequence and apply one spring atop each tumbler. The tumblers should receive a coating of synthetic multi purpose w/ptfe superlube gm p/n 12346241 (Canadian P/N 10953474) followed by insertion of the spring retainer which requires pressure downward with a flat-bladed tool. Check the tumbler position before adding the lock cylinder in the j41340 followed by staking the spring retainer bezel end. Once the spring retainer achieves correct staking, use gm p/n 12345996 or equivalent lubricant to treat the lock cylinder retainer slot before orienting the retainer to the tapered notch and inserting the Ignition Lock Cylinder into the housing. Verify correct rotation of the lock using a key. Construction of the Door Lock Cylinder requires 7 tumblers from positions 3 through 9 while maintaining tumbler stability during the assembly phase. The endgate lock cylinder together with the i/p storage compartment lock cylinder require the same construction methods for assembly which include proper alignment of tumbler positions and springs while ensuring all components receive appropriate lubrication and secure mounting.

How to replace the ignition lock cylinder on Buick Rendezvous? Posted by Customer
    A:
The ignition system replacement process begins with disconnecting the negative Battery Cable then disabling the sir system functions. Pull down the trim cover until locking tabs disengage then pull it backward to remove the lower Steering Column trim covers. Access the lock cylinder access hole becomes possible by detaching the retaining screws from the upper Steering Column trim cover and lifting that cover. The snap-on a173a bent-tip awl should be inserted into the access hole of the Ignition Lock Cylinder while you turn the cylinder to the start position. The Ignition Lock Cylinder retainer will drop thanks to the bent-tip tool's application while moving the Ignition Lock Cylinder into run mode before removing it from the lock cylinder case. To install the Ignition Lock Cylinder insert it through the upper Steering Column trim cover making sure the lock cylinder retaining tab matches the slots in the lock housing and push the lock cylinder fully inside. Use 3.5 n.m (31 lb in) to tighten the retaining screws which attach to the upper steering trim cover. Put the tab slots on the lower trim cover into the locking tabs on the upper trim cover then raise the lower trim cover while sliding it until the tabs catch the slots. Screw in the lower trim cover screws to the Steering Column while tightening them to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in) before you place in the Steering Wheel. You must activate the sir system and connect the negative Battery Cable as your last step.
