To install the shock/support begin by positioning the assist rods to the endgate and pressing each end into the Ball Joint until both are fully seated before closing the endgate.

A flat-bladed tool should lift the endgate assist rod retainer clips for removal of the assist rods' upper ends from their Ball Joint installation. Next process the lower ends before extracting all assist rods from the endgate. Install the assist rods to the endgate first then position the upper end to the Ball Joint and fully seat by pressing until installation is complete before positioning the lower end to the Ball Joint and fully seating by pressing followed by endgate closure.
