Use the Axle Shaft separator (J 42071) to split the Axle Shaft from its wheel bearing hub flange position where the Differential side markings face the Differential to protect the abs sensor reluctor ring. The Axle Shaft delinking process begins with Differential separation using j 42071 after which technicians remove the Axle Shaft through the vehicle opening. The Axle Shaft sealing surfaces and splines need cleaning before their application of Differential lubricant. Use a rubber faced mallet to push the Axle Shaft into the Differential until enough force reaches the sealing surface. The installation of the Axle Shaft's outer end should be performed inside the wheel bearing hub flange while using the j 42066 during Axle Shaft flange bolt installation to the Axle Shaft flange.
