  A: The console replacement process starts with delicate gear selector boot removal by pulling up on its front end so you can access it. Access the shift indicator through the console opening and remove its connector. Begin by unfastening the console trim plate screws and winter mode switch while moving the plate forward to access front-bolted console sections and strip away those bolts. Start by removing the screw from the park brake boot and then the screw from the center of the park brake trim panel before unhitching the bolts which secure the rear of the console. First install the console by aligning it correctly and make sure the shift selector points to park position. Screw in the park brake trim panel first then tighten it to 2 nm (18 lb in) followed by tightening of the rear bolts to 2 nm (18 lb in). Reinstall the park brake boot before screwing in the front bolts that require a torque of 3 nm (27 lb in). Secure the console trim plate first then set its screws with a torque of 2 nm (18 lb in). To finish the repair install the winter mode switch while rebuilding the shift indicator before snapping it back into position followed by gear selector boot installation below the lower console.
