Cadillac DeVille Parking Assist Distance Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the rear Parking Assist Distance Sensor on Cadillac DeVille?
    A:
The process starts by taking off the rear bumper fascia then disconnecting cables from the rear object sensor. Lift the locking tabs on the housing in order to remove the rear object sensor . After that squeeze the spring to detach it from the housing while allowing the tabs on the housing to release for removal. Push the bezel from both sides of the fascia to extract it. The installation of new rear object sensors requires painting the sensor components while using a 6-mil paint gauge which should be suitable for non-ferrous metal materials. To install the rear object sensor bezel simply push the ring inward until the bezel becomes flush with the fascia then fit the keyhole into the position of the key while pressing the sensor into the fascia. Place the housing onto the bezel from behind the fascia while positioning the spring keys at the top and bottom area of the bezel cutouts. To begin attach the spring to the housing then fit the decoupling ring onto the sensor. The sensor should be inserted into the housing while keeping its connector aimed toward the passenger side so the sensor tabs match the cutouts on the housing . Reconnect the electrical components before putting back the rear bumper fascia.
