Cadillac DeVille Wiper Motor Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the wiper motor on Cadillac DeVille?
A: Before you start working on the wiper motor, collect all the tools you will need: You will use the Wiper Transmission Separator (J 39232) and the Wiper Transmission Installer (J 39529). Begin with taking off the wiper arms and also the air inlet grille panel. After that, remove the three bolts and two nuts that are holding the reinforcement to the windshield frame, then pull out the reinforcement. Set the wiper motor crank arm in the opposite attitude from park, and take out the harness grommet from the plenum hole. Take the wiper motor harness apart from the connector and pull the harness and grommet out through the plenum hole. Take out the three screws that keep the wiper system drive module in place and remove the module from the vehicle. With Wiper Transmission Separator (J 39232), disconnect the drive link from the wiper motor crank arm, then unscrew and take out the wiper motor from the module. Add the wiper motor to the wiper drive system module, using screws, and tighten them to a torque of 8 N.m (71 lb in). Now, use the Wiper Transmission Installer (J 39529) to fit the drive link onto the wiper motor crank arm, drop the wiper module into the upper plenum so the nose faces downward, and turn it until the nose is at the rear of the vehicle. Use three screws to fasten the wiper drive system module, and tighten them to 8 N.m (71 lb in). Put the wiper motor harness and the grommet through the plenum hole, attach the wiper motor harness connector, and insert the grommet. When you're done, attach the windshield frame reinforcement with the bolts and nuts, tighten them to 9 N.m (80 lb in), and then place the air inlet grille panel and wiper arms. Turn on the wipers to see that they work correctly.
