  Q: How to Replace a Drive Belt on Cadillac DTS?

  A: The right front wheelhouse liner must be taken off first before replacing the Drive Belt. A 1/2 inch drive breaker should attach to the Drive Belt tensioner before using the breaker bar to push down on it for belt tension release. You should remove the Power Steering Pump Drive Belt then bring the tensioner back to its starting position at a slow pace. The second step requires removing the belt from lower pulleys and idlers followed by slowly lifting the vehicle. Follow this process for installation by directing the Drive Belt around all pulleys except the Power Steering Pump before lowering the vehicle while repeating the use of a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar on the Drive Belt tensioner. The breaker bar tension allows you to push it down so you can guide the belt into position on the Power Steering Pump pulley along with all other pulleys. Check the Drive Belt alignment as you place the tensioner back to its initial place before installing the right front wheelhouse liner.
