How to replace the rear door check link on Cadillac Escalade?

The first step in replacing the rear door check requires door opening followed by removal of the door trim panel and subsequent removal of the water deflector. Start by dropping the body-side check strap bolt and check strap plug before removing the door-side check strap nuts. Reach through the door to pull the check strap. Start installation by affixing the check strap to the door before attaching it to the body and finish by tightening the check strap nuts to 9 N.m (80 lb in). After securing the check strap bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb in) torque, reinstall both the water deflector and the door trim panel.
