How to replace the Air Conditioning (A/C) drive belt on Cadillac Escalade ESV?

Start by removing both the air conditioning (A/C) Drive Belt together with its accessory counterpart and securing the vehicle before moving forward. The procedure starts by taking out engine shield bolts followed by the removal of the engine shield. Beginning by inserting a ratchet into the a/c belt tensioner adapter opening the technician can rotate the tensioner clockwise thus weakening the belt tension before removing the a/c belt from the pulleys. The tension on the a/c belt tensioner should be released carefully before removing the ratchet and cleaning and checking the belt surfaces on all pulleys. The crankshaft balancer receives the a/c belt as an installation step while the clockwise motion of the a/c Drive Belt tensioner adapter opening using a ratchet reduces belt tension. Lower the a/c belt over the idler pulley before wrapping it around the a/c compressor pulley then let off the a/c belt tensioner tension with slow pressure while removing its ratchet. Check the a/c belt installation and alignment before reattaching the engine shield with bolts which need to be tightened at 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). The installation process ends with lowering the vehicle while fitting the accessory Drive Belt.
