Serpentine Belt

Start the Drive Belt repair by taking out the air cleaner assembly followed by the air cleaner outlet duct resting on the Throttle Body. A 3/8 inch drive wrench should be used to turn the Drive Belt tensioner arm counterclockwise and eliminate the Drive Belt followed by slow tensioner arm release. Installation of the belt requires routing it over all pulleys except the tensioner arm with correct path arrangements for air conditioning-equipped and non-equipped vehicles. Use the 3/8 inch drive wrench to counterclockwise turn the tensioner arm and position the Drive Belt over the Drive Belt tensioner pulley. Slowly disable the tension on the arm during this process. Check that the Drive Belt resides correctly between the pulleys while inspecting for any incorrect placement that might occur when a single or multiple grooves misalign. The correct Drive Belt size and correct routing must be confirmed through the release point fixture position check on the Drive Belt tensioner for new belts while the release point should stay before the index mark for used drive belts. The sequence of work ends by replacing the air cleaner outlet duct followed by the air cleaner assembly.

The first step for Drive Belt replacement is to detach the air cleaner assembly from the Throttle Body with its corresponding air cleaner outlet duct. A 3/8 inch drive wrench should be used to turn the Drive Belt tensioner arm counterclockwise until the Drive Belt comes off. Gradually let go of the tension on the tensioner arm. During the installation process position the belt across all the pulleys while omitting the tensioner arm and maintain correct positioning for vehicles with or without air conditioning. In order to fit the Drive Belt onto the Drive Belt tensioner pulley use a 3/8 inch drive wrench to rotate the tensioner arm counterclockwise before distributing the Drive Belt and releasing the tension steadily. Check that the Drive Belt fits correctly on all pulleys while not rotating due to multiple grooves. Check the Drive Belt size and routing with the help of the fix pointer which should match the indentation on the Drive Belt tensioner for new belts then confirm that the fix pointer remains before the index mark for used belts. In the last step replace the air cleaner outlet duct followed by the air cleaner assembly.

Install a breaker bar with a hex-head socket onto the drive belt tensioner bolt and rotate the tensioner clockwise to relieve tension on the belt.

Use a ratchet in the A/C belt tensioner adapter opening to rotate the tensioner clockwise.

Install the A/C belt over the idler pulley and around the A/C compressor pulley.

First, loosen the air cleaner outlet duct clamps at the throttle body and the mass airflow (MAF)/intake air temperature (IAT) sensor.

Install the drive belt under the idler pulley and then slowly release the tension on the belt tensioner.

Slowly release the tension on the tensioner and remove the ratchet.

Take out the engine shield bolts and the engine shield itself.

Reinstall the air cleaner outlet duct and the air cleaner assembly.

Slowly release the tension on the A/C belt tensioner and remove the breaker bar.

Slowly release the tension on the A/C belt tensioner and remove the ratchet.

Route the new belt over all the pulleys except the tensioner arm, ensuring to observe the correct routing for vehicles with or without air conditioning.

Install the drive belt under the idler pulley, slowly release the tension on the belt tensioner, and remove the breaker bar and socket.

Install the A/C belt over the idler pulley and around the A/C compressor pulley.
