GMC Sierra 3500 Drive Belt Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Air Conditioning (A/C) drive belt on GMC Sierra 3500?
A: You should start by taking off the accessory Drive Belt before raising the car to work on the air conditioning (A/C) Drive Belt replacement. The first step involves removing engine shield bolts and subsequently removing the engine shield. A ratchet inserted into the a/c belt tensioner adapter opening will allow clockwise rotation of the tensioner to relieve belt tension before the a/c belt can be removed from the pulleys. Remove the ratchet tool before cleaning all pulleys while inspecting their Drive Belt surfaces. Slowly decrease tension from the a/c belt tensioner during this process. Augment the a/c belt onto the crankshaft balancer before using a ratchet inside the a/c Drive Belt tensioner adapter opening to rotate and loosen tension. The a/c belt should be threaded through the idler pulley and over the a/c compressor pulley afterward release the tension from the a/c belt tensioner by turning its ratchet clockwise. Check the correct installation and positioning of the a/c belt before putting back the engine shield and fastening the engine shield bolts to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). Install the accessory Drive Belt afterward lowering the vehicle to its position.
