GMC Sierra 3500 Radiator Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the radiator for the 8.1L engine on GMC Sierra 3500?
A: The first step to replace the 8.1l engine Radiator involves taking away the Radiator inlet hose and Radiator outlet hose. Start by taking off the lower Fan Shroud together with the air cleaner assembly followed by uninstalling the air cleaner adapter push pin and bolts to free it from the vehicle. The surge tank inlet hose requires removal alongside the repositioning of its clamp at the Radiator location. It is essential to disconnect the Radiator lines for engine oil and transmission cooling before removing the bolts for the removal of the Radiator. To install the new Radiator position it then fasten the Radiator bolts while tightening them to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp at the Radiator before you build the transmission oil cooler line connection to the Radiator in addition to the engine oil cooler line connection. Reinstall the air cleaner adapter on the vehicle by using bolts with 9 nm torque (80 inch lbs.) before putting on the push pin and air cleaner assembly and lower Fan Shroud. Installing the two hoses known as the Radiator outlet and Radiator inlet requires completion for vehicles with 8.1l engines.
