Repairs of a Power Steering Reservoir located off the vehicle begin with draining fluid from the pump. Start by removing pump mounting studs before you disconnect the assembly that contains the o-ring seal and fittings and connector. Detachment of the control valve assembly with its flow control spring should happen from the pump housing assembly when needed. The pump housing assembly should be dismantled by removing its reservoir assembly. After that the o-ring seals, and must be extracted followed by the cleaning of the magnet. A
Power Steering Pump housing replacement is needed if the welch plug inside shows signs of deformation or if it is loose from its position. New o-ring seals need installation onto the assembly after applying power steering fluid for lubrication. The pump assembly should receive the flow control spring prior to mounting the control valve assembly onto the flow control spring. Put the o-ring seals on top of the pump housing assembly before you add the and fasten the magnet. Install the o-ring seal by connecting the pump housing assembly to the reservoir assembly. Connect the pump housing to the fitting assembly while also connecting the pump mounting studs to the housing and tighten them to 58 n.m (44 lb ft) then tighten the assembly to 75 n.m (55 lb ft).
