Cadillac Seville Oil Pan Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the oil pan on Cadillac Seville?
A: You need to start by draining engine oil and removing the front exhaust manifold pipe for replacing the Oil Pan. First disconnect the engine oil level sensor's electrical connector then remove the sensor from the Oil Pan. Begin by carefully removing the Oil Pan bolts while keeping track of the Oil Pan Gasket status. If the gasket shows no damage it can be reused but you should avoid taking it out of the Oil Pan groove if a replacement gasket isn't necessary. Next follow by cleaning and inspecting the Oil Pan before its installation. Clean the sealing groove of the Oil Pan and push the new Oil Pan seal into both sides of its groove around the entire pan. Position the Oil Pan into the crankcase before you install the retaining bolts and tighten each bolt to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.) according to a specified sequence. Place the engine oil level sensor into the Oil Pan by torquing it to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). Finally connect the electrical connector to the engine oil level sensor . The first step is to reinstall the front exhaust manifold pipe before oil filling operations and leak tests should be performed after ignition.
