2001 Cadillac Seville Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the oil pan on 2001 Cadillac Seville?
A: The first thing to do is to drain all the engine oil and take off the front exhaust manifold pipe before you change the Oil Pan. First, take off the electrical connector from the oil level sensor , and afterwards remove the sensor itself from the Oil Pan. After that, take out the Oil Pan bolts, making sure you only remove the gasket if it's damaged, and keep it in the groove otherwise. When that is done, pull the Oil Pan out, wash it, and check for any damage. If you need to use a new Oil Pan seal, make sure the groove is clean of oil and press the seal into the Oil Pan groove in both directions. Aligned with the crankcase, throw the Oil Pan into place and attach the retaining bolts, tightening all to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.) in the pattern given. Put the engine oil level sensor into the Oil Pan, tighten it to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.), and plug the electrical connector onto the oil level sensor . Put the front exhaust manifold pipe back, add oil into the engine, then check for oil leaks once the engine is running.
