Draining the power steering fluid from the Power Steering Pump should be the first step before dealing with the Power Steering Reservoir replacement off your vehicle. The pump mounting studs need removal before you detach the connector and fitting assembly and o-ring seal from it. Removing the control valve assembly together with the flow control spring from the pump housing assembly becomes essential during flow control valve replacement. One must first remove the o-ring seals , , and from the reservoir assembly before detaching it from the pump housing assembly. An evaluation of the welch plug inside the Power Steering Pump housing should happen without removing the plug. Deformation or dislodgment of the welch plug requires replacing the entire Power Steering Pump. To assemble the system use new o-ring seals which should get a lubrication treatment with power steering fluid.
