Firstly, raise the vehicle to service and repair the Idler Arm. On the use of the universal steering linkage puller (J 24319-B), separate all of the
Ball Joints. Drill and remove the two bolts from the Idler Arm and the prevailing torque nut out of the Idler Arm ball stud, and dispose of the nut. Then, use the j 24319-b to remove the relay rod from the Idler Arm, and also remove the Idler Arm. The ball stud threads and seal should be inspected for breakage, and the threads on the ball stud and the ball stud nut should be cleaned. For installation, mount the Idler Arm to the frame and install the bolts and tighten it to 105 nm (77 ft. Lbs). Accordingly, attach the relay rod to the Idler Arm ball stud using the steering linkage installer (J 29193), make sure that the seal is in place, and tighten to 54 nm (40 ft. Lbs.) to mold the tapers in a proper manner. After disassembly of j 29193, replace a new prevailing torque nut to the Idler Arm ball stud and tighten the nut to 47 nm (35 ft. Lbs.). Finally, lower the vehicle and regulate the toe-in.
