    The following tools are mandatory for Steering Angle Sensor maintenance work which includes Steering Angle Sensor and steering shaft lower bearing replacement: j 42640 Steering Column anti-rotation pin. J 42640 Steering Column anti-rotation pin. The sir system activation needs to be disabled first while keeping the front wheels aligned and the Steering Column secured as you detach either the Steering Column or intermediate shaft to avoid sir coil assembly damage. Lock the Steering Column through j 42640 operations. Place a 1-2 mm diameter pin into the sensor before taking it out to ensure it remains properly centered when reinstalled; otherwise discard the sensor. The sensor requires replacement if installation cannot be completed. The sensor connector needs removal first followed by removal of the steering shaft retainer. When replacing the sensor and other components pull the sensor directly from both the steering shaft and bearing adapter. You should never use sideways force during sensor and bearing adapter installation. Position the sensor directly onto the steering shaft and into the bearing adapter. Keep 3 millimeters of space between the sensor and bearing adapter surfaces. Attach the sensor connector while removing the pin from the sensor followed by placing the sensor retainer onto the steering shaft. Reinstall the Steering Column then remove the j 42640. Finally, enable the sir system.
