Chevrolet Avalanche 2500 Camshaft Position Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor on Chevrolet Avalanche 2500?
A: The replacement operation for the Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor should begin with proper vehicle elevation and support installation. Start by removing the engine shield bolts followed by taking out the shield if it has one. The first step involves disconnecting the CMP sensor electrical connector before you proceed to remove the CMP sensor bolt and the CMP sensor from its mounting position. Examine the sensor for wear and cracks and leakage when you do not plan to replace it. During CMP sensor installation inspect the O-ring for damage or wear because any noticed issues mean swapping the O-ring followed by engine oil lubrication before putting the sensor in place. Fasten the CMP sensor into position by using the CMP sensor bolt to reach 12 N.m torque (106 lb in). Before installation of the CMP sensor electrical connector reconnect it then install the engine shield and its bolts when applicable and tighten the bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Finally, lower the vehicle.
