Chevrolet Avalanche 2500 Engine Mount Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the right engine mount on Chevrolet Avalanche 2500?
A: The replacement procedure for right engine mounts begins with proper vehicle elevation at the front wheelhouse opening for 2WD cars and full tire and wheel removal for 4WD systems. Start by removing the tire and wheel of the left front position followed by removing the push pin retainers on the wheelhouse inner panel and the wheelhouse inner panel itself. Use the wheelhouse opening to remove first the engine mount heat shield bolts after detaching the heat shield. The procedure starts with engine mount-to-engine mount bracket bolt removal and continues with the oil pan skid plate bolts together with plate (if present) as well as engine shield bolts and shield. Rise the engine only high enough to accomplish the separation between engine mount and engine mount bracket. A suitable jack should be used to raise the engine first before disassembling the engine mount-to-engine bolts and removing the engine mount followed by the engine mount bracket through bolts and bracket itself. To install the bracket begins with mounting it to the frame while first removing all traces of original adhesive before cleaning bolt threads with denatured alcohol and applying thread-locker GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) to the bolts. First install the engine mount bracket through bolts in a loose manner while positioning the engine mount next to the engine and loosely installing the engine mount-to-engine bolts. Tighten the engine mount bracket through bolts to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.) while engine mount-to-engine bolts require 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.). Position the engine shield before tightening its bolts to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) and proceed with engine lowering. Users should install the available oil pan skid plate before applying 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) torque to its fasteners. The engine mount heat shield goes on first with subsequent installation of the engine mount-to-engine bolts that need tightening at 65 Nm (48 ft. lbs.). To complete the task reinstall the wheelhouse inner panel while also reinserting the wheelhouse inner panel push pin retainers. Finally, install the left front tire and wheel and lower the vehicle.
