Chevrolet Camaro Hood Latch Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the hood latch on Chevrolet Camaro?
A: The process of Hood Latch replacement begins by noting the positions of bolts on the primary latch support followed by bolts removal. A small flat-bladed tool enables detachment of the Hood Latch release cable from the hood primary latch as you lift out the release cable through the latch clip. The upper radiator support needs to receive a marker for the hood primary latch position before the headlamp housing panel and bracket are removed together with the windshield washer solvent reservoir. Some of the first steps involve taking out the primary latch support bolts together with the latch support. During the installation step, place the primary latch support into position based on the removal marks before installing bolts which require a torque of 18 n.m (13 lb ft). Reattach the windshield wiper solvent tank after installing the hood lighting housing framework. Complete the hook lief cable at the hood primary latch before fixing the latch clip on top of the hood primary latch. Fit the hood primary latch onto the primary latch support and make sure the bolts/screws match the reference marks on the support before fastening the hood primary latch screws to 18 n.m torque (13 lb ft). The hood should be inspected for alignment while the hood primary latch bolts/screws are temporarily relaxed to allow for adjustment according to the specs recorded during inspection.
