Chevrolet Camaro TPMS Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the TPMS Sensor on Chevrolet Camaro?
A: In order to replace the Tire Pressure Indicator Sensor, lift your vehicle on a suitable support. Remove the tire/wheel from the car, then take off the tire from the rim. Always install a new Schrader(R) tire pressure monitoring (TPM) sensor as well as a new TORX screw for installing. Remove the TORX screw from tire pressure sensor and pull it straight off the tire pressure valve stem. Don't scratch or harm the clear coating of aluminum wheels using tire changing equipment, since this will result in corrosion and peeling. Next, pull out the tire pressure valve stem from the rim. During installation, make sure that the flat of the valve lines up with the flats of the snap in the enclosure and that TPM valves as well as TORX screws are single-use items. Mount the tire pressure sensor to the valve stem and tighten the new TORX screw to 1.3 Nm (11.5 lb in). Use only an approved tire mounting lubricant that does not contain silicon or corrosive base compounds that break down the tire or rim. Apply tire soap to the rubber part of the valve stem and with the tire valve stem mounting tool, pull the valve stem through in the direction parallel to the valued hole of the rim. Remember that Snap Fit TPM sensors are sent in the OFF mode and will be activated when the tire is inflated. Mount the tire onto the rim, put the tire/wheel assembly on the vehicle and lower the vehicle. Last of all, learn the tire pressure sensors.
