You must spray down and save the jam nut placement during your front tire assembly removal work. While holding the ball stud you can loosen the tie rod inner jam nut to stop it from rotating. When replacing the Rack And Pinion outer tie rod you must discard the tie rod to knuckle nut while keeping the ball stud pinned to its place by hand using caution to protect the seal and bushing from damaging tools. The difficulty level in separating the tie rod from the steering knuckle is reduced with the steering linkage and tie rod puller (J 24319-B) allowing workers to extract the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod. Install the outer tie rod onto the inner tie rod before connecting it to the knuckle by threading in a newly installed retention nut. When securing the nut apply a torque of 25 n.m and an angle of 90 degrees (18 lb ft) and another 90 degrees. Install the front tire assembly while checking the vehicle alignment.
