Chevrolet Express 1500 A/C Expansion Valve Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Expansion Valve in the auxiliary system on Chevrolet Express 1500?
A: The first step to change the thermal expansion valve (TXV) in the auxiliary system requires Evaporator core removal followed by careful stripping of the txv sealer while keeping track of tube positioning on the core. Begin by taking away the clip which keeps the capillary tube attached to the Evaporator core and cut off the Evaporator tube connections from the txv before extracting the txv from the core. Installation requires the txv to be installed onto its core position after following all instructions from the fastener notice section in service precautions and performing a proper connection of Evaporator tubes to the txv by using 28 n.m (21 lb ft) torque values. The tube and clip installation must follow the original position noted in the disassembly phase before applying the clip to secure the tube onto the Evaporator core. After reattaching the Evaporator core, use the sealer material in the same way it was during disassembly.
